IMHO..trading "for the money" IS the right reason. However, when you are in the act of trading you should not think about the money.Think about your craft and doing the right things. The money will then come.

Daytrader76:

I think your main obstacle is obvious by reading some of your post... like someone else said here, we trade against ourselves. Now, you say you have wild emotional swings when you trade your money, but that you are an efficient ice cold trader when trading other people money. You also add that you were always poor and that you're main goal is to be rich.

I would speculate that by giving so much power and authority to money, you get intimidated and get in your own way . You're an intelligent being with a high IQ, so learning, strategy, experience or knowledge certainly aren't the immediate problem. You may try to work the emotional side, with meditation, psychotherapy (it's not just for nuts), or whatever.

Or you could trade other people money with a fixed salary :)

If you "love" the market for money, its like "loving" a woman for sex. Usually they get p'd off when they find out and the relationship wont work.
