Actually msft has some new initiatives which are at least as promising as what, say orcl was doing in 1997/98 timeframe when it was "shifting gears" so to speak.

For any other company trading 50% off his highs like msft the .net initiative and voiceweb would be enough for me to at least look at buying on promise.

But with msft's giant cap, whoa, there is literally no way to win. And whats especially wierd is that with .net especially Gates and Ballmer are admitting that windows is "not all that" - so why tie your new company to an aging boat anchor?

I don't want to make another obvious remark (I have a habit of doing that)... but they should have willingly broken up their company for business reasons in 1998.

Did you ever hear of weekly vitamins????? The seem to be time released over and entire week. I suspect that personally much goes into development of such things...
