Stockdon, I'd not heard it said ALA would leave the ADSL chip business. What I've heard is they'd either sell or spin it off. Of course that could be close to the same thing as leaving the business. I'll have to go see how Stephens had worded it.

As for ALA buying third party chipsets...my guess is that is happening already. Partly due to the shortage problems and partly because it works very well for others such as 3Com & Efficient Networks. There is no advantage in limiting your offerings if you are looking to gain market share.
