I'll take that. It's simple: Ben Graham invests in #1 and #2. In the red hot "UNIX" server space, HP is number 2. --- Of course HWP's PE doesn't approach SUNW because of margins and every other number. It's just the raw "#2" stat. --- Plus, there's some Carly x factor (which offsets the fact that that little garage is wall to wall toner). --- BTW, we have a Cheetah date (Ultra III). It's Sept. 11. So far, I've only seen a ZDnet headline, which goes on to be an obvious hit piece about Gartner and it's Starfire issue. --- Also, there's a longish (read it over the weekend) but worthwhile piece on Sun over at Bloomberg dated 8/31 and linked from sun.com current news. Maybe someone can post the URL. -JCJ

Can somebody tell my by what stretch of the imagination HWP, the most overvalued stock on the DOW, is running away?

A. PE about a third that of SUNW? Or:

B. The street has been Carly-ized?

Speaking of HP, I just got back from Albertson's (grocery store). There, on an end cap near the potato chips was a stack of HP Apollo printers for $49. ea. Pretty soon these things are going to just start showing up in the mail like AOL CDs. -JCJ
