Tutt, <<<my guess is that it will be a small box sitting next to the furnace>>>

Egads!!! All my financial records, banking and investments, research and correspondence, study material, books, music, movies, videos, photographs, hobbies, communications to the world, are right there next to the furnace.

What a vision!!!

Charles, >The PC of FIVE years from now is not going to resemble the PC of today -- my guess is that it will be a small box sitting next to the furnace with connections (either wired or wireless) to a few HDTV screens scattered around the house which have associated keyboards and/or command microphones.

Well, then, the enterprise servers will be underneath the raised floor, about the size of an extra large pizza box, slaves to the enterprise storage boxes sitting above them. The Fortune 100 CEO will give tours of his "Lottabytes" farm, with no CPUs in sight.

I'm sure you've seen this viewpoint from some EMC zealots. Personally, I don't believe it (although I believe in EMC).
