I understand the basic valuation arguments for shorting at these levels. But I have a hard time pulling the trigger on an infrastructure buildout leader.

You think the market will go down because you are short or do you have some solid reasons why you think it will go down.

Then of course there's the question of how high it will go before it goes down. And waht stocks will go down before they go sky high.

JNPR - hope you shorted today at the high of about 222 and not 5 days back at around 180.

I kinda like short Juniper October 250 calls at around 11 3/4 bid near today's close. That would put you short at 261+ in 7 weeks if assigned. Seems to me better odds than an outright short stock play at current levels.

Especially considering the buying expected for the addition to NASDAQ 100.

Gives us your reason. Also tell us a little about yourself. How long have been a player? Do you trade for a living?

Hey Bear, first of all welcome to SI.
The first posting is always tough <g>.
Don't be shy, hibernating season hasn't arrived yet.
Hope to see more of your postings.

I have also started short side with buying some puts when JNPR was 180s. (down the drain so far)
And started to short JNPR at 210s. Will keep add with every 10 points run. So far two JNPR short position from 210 and 220.

When Naz heads down again, JNPR will go down at much faster rate.

Fundamental or technical, this steep climb cannot be sustained. (Yea I know, this was a stupid argument last year when the nut stocks were climbing everyday)
Just make sure to have enough powders....

JNPR is a great company, no doubt.
Just got too fat, need some diet.
Hope to see little more JNPR run so we can build up nice position.

Unlike you I'm 80% long and 20% short, will change to 70/30 this month.

This is my first post since I have joined SI last year & most likely I will not post often in the future.

Why is that?

Currently I am 80%short/20%long with significant short positions on JNPR & SDLI.

Ah! That explains the first sentence and the reasoning behind your first post at Silicon Investor. We certainly hope you don't have to run to a computer lab and submit an Emulex. <ggg>

However, I must warn those that have benefited on the recent run.

Yes, using the split adjusted price, I did notice that $16 and change is now worth $221 and change in the recent run. Thanks for the warning. It's a shame that people don't appreciate their benefits package these days, isn't it?

How about the weekly?:

Seriously do consider securing or hedging your gains somehow. The bear has not gone away but just bidding his time. He will strike harder than many of you have ever thought possible.

Will he?

Which is it? The bear is biding his time or is he 'bidding' his time?
