Simmons & Co. was on CNBC today, and predicted a 50% increase in capital spending from todays levels. Most analyst are forecasting 20%.

Nice close on the OSX today, at the very high.

If there is anyone out there who is not convinced we are going to have higher inflation, here is something to think about.

What are the two highest costs of operating a farm?

1. Fuel for the equipment (oil).

2. Fertilizer, which is 90% NG. Fertilizer plants have shut down because they can't afford to make fertilizer at a profit.

If the farmer does not fertilize, we have small yields (higher prices).

If the farmer fertilizes, we have higher prices or fewer farmers.

I forgot, we don't count energy or food so I guess it wouldn't matter. (ggg)

Have a nice holiday weekend,

Jim
