RE: Kopin

using LED backlights (Fatboy is this a Cree or Sapphire blue?)

Sorry Voop, I have no clue. I would like to add my 2 cents on Kopin. Everybody and his brother in trying to pump out the HBT's. While Kopin has been at it as long as anybody, I'm doubtful that they have any significant competitive advantage.

IMO their future is tied to the Display. I think they themselves alluded to this a year or so ago in an annual or quarterly report. The transparency of their display is hugely differentiating especially from the battery life aspect. I think that ultimately for portable devices it will come down to something like Kopin's or Microvision's display.

I haven't yet invested (directly that is) in either as I want to see how things evolve a little bit more.

Great comeback on KOPN.
Thanx for the perspective. We're interested. It's on my watch list.

Which means I'm usually late in pulling the trigger, not to mention in scrounging around for investment capital. I was late to JDSU (Dec 99), and late to NTAP (April 2000).

I was early to Rambus; and early to Gemstar, though I'm not complaining.

So now, I'm watching another 1/2 dozen companies, but don't know where I'll get the money to invest, anyway. I've got Cree, Kopn, Wind, Globalstar (have to watch more closely with Gregg Powers back in the game) and L&H (new CEO) among those to follow. And I still need to reinforce present holdings Gemstar, NTAP, SNDK.

Best of luck to you,
stan
