If those benchmarks are true the P4 looks like a DISASTER...
Maybe it will reside in nichedom...along with RAMBUS....
Maybe Mhz won't sell after all...<G>

Andreas,

More Pentium 4 benchmarks tip up

More evidence of 20-30% differential between P4 and T-Bird.

Mustang at 1.5GHz should provide a lot of happy moments for us in a few months. ;^))

Andreas,

<More Pentium 4 benchmarks tip up

theregister.co.uk >

Interesting! Especially since Mike claims these are from an OEM. Unless these numbers improve significantly (10% or more) for the final version Intel could be in a world of hurt. Of course AMD infrastructure has to improve significantly to get some mileage out of this...

<Also interesting: Launch is now scheduled for the week of October, 30th (this seems to be in order with Barrets comments last week).>

In face of the events that unfolded in the last 12 months and Barrett's official October/November comment, one has to wonder how poorly Dell thinks of AMD to not offer anything with AMD so far (could this be personal?). It will be amazing if Dell does not ship at least one AMD SKU this Christmas.

Re: More Pentium 4 benchmarks tip up..

Rambust, Itanic, and now the Pentium Forfeit.

No wonder why they plan to use .13 wafer space for P3 instead of P4.

Sorry Intel, but 3 strikes and you're out.

Dan
