Oops, Rob was here.

Just got back from the shopping expedition to CostCo and it looks like Rob has been at the keyboard again. (He drools on it and I have to wring it out.) For those tuning in late, “Rob” is actually not his real name but an acronym of “Retarded Older Brother.” Unlike cuf’s Evil Twin, Rob can’t be mistaken for me. Except I think Schwab suspects that he makes some of my investment decisions, so they seem to have me on a short leash.

Shopping expeditions to CostCo – the one in Scottsdale, you understand, even if there are closer ones – are always informative. Today I was caused to reflect again that there is a vague boundary between here and there, and that on the other side the cosmetic surgeons are selling certain augmentation treatments like hotcakes.

I guess the mind doesn’t reflexively jump to the image of pancakes here, but you get the idea. Anyhow, it seems that my attention is noticeably diverted sometimes, because I might be informed that “those aren’t real,” whereupon I remind myself that I don’t really care.

But there is a lightweight investment education angle to the CostCo visit. I do my high-tech research there, and CostCo now has the Phillips “Personal Television Viewing System” for sale at $350. The box says the device inside it will pause and slo-mo live TV, record 30 hours of your favorite stuff painlessly, help you find your favorite stuff, and even help you find other stuff like your favorite stuff that you might like better but didn’t know was there because of other stuff. The box says “Tivo” on it somewhere, and informs that a $9.95 a month fee is involved.

I realize now that I neglected to corral one of the CostCo personal high-tech consultants to learn more. Something must have distracted me.
