Yes, like Kaka's latest post on Yahoo!,

I too spent my youth (right up to last week) reading science fiction, including all of Heinlein, Asimov, Clark, Niven, Pournelle, etc.

I really love the Honor Harrington series of 8 books by David Weber. If you like scifi and you haven't read those, you better get to the book store. It is the most in depth creation of a universe yet, IMO (although the Kzin universe is pretty well defined too <g>)

The original three laws of robotics - circa 1940

First Law:

A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law:

A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law:

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Subsequently he added a higher (zeroeth law):

Law Zero

A robot may not injure humanity, or, through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm. And a modifier to the lower laws was added to make them all subservient to the zeroeth law.
