I have never stated a position on immigration. I have no problem with legal immigration. However, I don't think we should change our customs and culture to accept every other Tom, Dick and Harry's customs from wherever they come. The lack of communication is a big problem in our country, and when people can't communicate, there are bound to be many problems. That's why I believe English should be the universal language in the States. Not because someone's language is bad. People don't leave there own country unless they see something better to go off to. If they are leaving a place that doesn't appear to be what they want, why should I/we be forced to respect those customs and cultures? You may disagree, but that's not the only thing we disagree on based on other posts I have read.knc

I caught parts of it. It showed me how much of a sham our war on poverty is. We have very little, if any, poverty in this country. We do, however, have many lazy people who are dependent on the government and willing charities to provide for them. The example of the unmarried couple living in the subsidized apartment with the colored television, stereo, refrigerator, vcr and microwave, made me sick to my stomach. I'd like to see them live in the shanties on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande across from El Paso. They wouldn't last a day. I have more respect for the Mexicans who live in those shacks than I do for the con artists Stossel showed from the South Bronx.knc
