Donna, on a P&F chart, the Xs are bullish, the Os bearish (think of a football field). The diagonal lines running from top left to bottom right represent Bearish Support and Bearish Resistance lines. Thus those running from bottom left to top right are the corresponding bullish lines. They give the viewer a picture of the entire "field" as well as hint at support. In order to switch columns from an X to an O, the price has to move in the opposite direction by 3 boxes, which cuts out "background noise". The higher the price of the stock, the higher the value of the box.

I know - PCs have so much more software. But my computer guy says it will come - and OS X will be incredibly stable.
