What sort of makes you want to puke is that welfare reform is clearly a Republican initiative. Clinton was led dragging and kicking to sign it. He and Gore now want to take credit for it. No shame. There is a production benefit, a welfare saving, but probably most importantly these people are achieving a positive self esteem they never dreamed of. These are the kinds of things a Republican administration would bring about. It's sometimes "tough love" but it also means growth and survival. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. The Democrats give the daily fish and the Republicans want to teach everyone how to fish. The choice of which course is most acceptable is there. I will vote to help people and teach them to fish and build self esteem and productive capabilities.
