Ron, you are forgetting one of the most important facts about President Clinton: he has the overwhelming support of the vast majority of Americans. His approval rating as he is about to leave office is in the high 60's. The majority of Americans believe a man of Clinton's integrity is representative of the character of our nation.

Bill Clinton has a gift of his own. His gift is that of an excellent orator. When he gives a speech he has the ability to connect personally with each person who is listening. The vast majority of politicians never come close to achieving this type of relationship with the public. Most politicians come across stiff, programmed, and disconnected from their audience. Bill Clinton, however, performs a Broadway Show each time he delivers a speech. He is even better than Ronald Reagan, the actor, ever was.

Intellectually, Clinton is quite possibly the smartest person ever elected to be President of the United States.

Politically speaking, Bill Clinton is maybe the best true politician ever to hold the top job. His opponents rarely get the best of him. When his opponents do hold superior ideas he is often able to co-opt the ideas, re-package them, and claim them as his own. He is unmatched by anyone in today’s political scene when it comes to the art of politics. He appears to be one of the hardest working Presidents ever. He also appears to be respected by leaders around the world even though at times his "meals on wheels" use of the United States Military has discounted an otherwise competent foreign policy. Certainly he deserves credit for good things during his presidency. Foremost, he deserves a share of credit for the strong economy the public has enjoyed during his tenure. His lack of meddling has allowed the economy to continue to grow. Balancing the budget and welfare reform are certainly other accomplishments that Clinton can claim as his own. To be sure, he has benefited from a remarkably prosperous and peaceful time in world history.

The list of blunders, mistakes, illegal activities, and the like could fill an essay in and of themselves. I am not Bill Clinton's Lawyer or Bill Clinton himself so I will not attempt to defend him here.

PS The Main Question that every American who votes come November will be this: Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago? The overwhelming response from the vast majority of Americans is a resounding Yes. This is one of the reasons why Gore will win in November.
