I like your PS about RCA. My follow up questions would have been "Why are you using VxWorks? and What would you switch to?" There are a lot of companies that provide real time operating systems for certain processors, and most of them would gladly accept an assignment to port to any new processor that someone wanted to pay for. But there is only one leader, and there will only be one gorilla. I think it will be Wind.

This conversation happened a few months ago. But I am quite certain the thing that most impressed me was the fact that I said VxWorks, yeah, Wind River's OS. And the response from some of the engineers was no, no thats Psos. Then I straightened them all out that yes, VxWorks is Wind Rivers and now so is Psos (I hope I got Psos right, I had it right at the time).

But what really stood out is that these were the only two embedded OSes these people knew about. And RCA designs a heck of a lot of products running with embedded OS.
