Why do i get the feeling this "War" is won , before the first battle being fought? If the Zogby, "Battleground" and Gallup/CNN polls due out in a week have similar results to the Newsweek Poll, it looks like Bush will have a tremendous uphill struggle , and will look almost already missing the beat. But I am interested in hearing many sides of the debates from many of the contributer's ideas on this thread....and what AG and GW have to say themselves. Sans all the Morality play and posturing. But hopefully focussed only in the arenas of the fiscal/markets, domestic issues, care of elderly and children, education , medical care, national direction, foreign policy/immigration, campaign reforms(?), support of the military , labor, envirionment, etc. And hopefully we don't even come close of having to see "George W. Bush as a complete creature of the religious right." I want to know if GW really wants to lead, what he truely deeply believes, and has he the verve and stability to grasp the reigns to lead an entire nation openly. Another thing that I am concerned with is the stress on Chaney, he is a good second choice , but is his health really that solid to take on a campaign? And tenure in the Whitehouse? Worries me about that , and I hope Chaney takes care not to let this overwhelm his health, all kidding aside. And I personally want more than the old "Scares of War " and a weak military, the USA being bombed and attacked, and the poor military not getting enough bucks...the military won't starve whichever man is elected , but the card has been used in every election since the caveman. When the Military strength issue is played heavily , it bodes well for republicans always ....when it isn't in play democrats usually take the prize. The next president will have to be tireless in controled diplomacy....yet Bush has already indicated that he intends going forward with NMD, which Clinton has left in the hands of the sucessor as of yesterday. Personally , I think there is more of a high probability of one instance of a rogue state attempting to detonate some nuclear device somewhere , on some mad whim. The horror of such an action ever taking place in this world is too terrrible to contemplate...but very possible and beyond anyone's control...almost. Megatons come in large luggage these days , and when one thinks of just one going off somewhere , that would be a catalyst for the entire earth to swear off nukes forever ...or maybe i am dreaming. .... But if 8 million people disappear somwhere on the globe in 3-5 seconds ....on some horrible morning, something will change in a hurry , for all of us. Nothing would ever be the same should we ever witness such an event, again on this earth. That is truely scary. So yes , lets hear what the military has to say, via the candidates. but since this is very real , let's keep it a sober debate. . The moral~decay cards being played, over and over, gets to be monotonous and starts to ring hollow when you think of the mass-murderers posing as leaders in other countries like Radovan Karadzic, the Bosnian Serb leader or a Sadam Hussein....though a strange world in which we live that these men are held in high esteem by many. This is part of the greater human dilemna ....this "global Village" . Bush is already getting briefed as we speak by the CIA, down at his ranch in Texas ....though I couldn't say if that will make him any smarter or capable as a leader! ( a rub on the CIA not Dubya, LOL! ) 105 degrees down in Texas right now ... I would say that the Heat is on. ;-) Mars PS: California is getting restless...major Earthquake in Northern region, measuring over 5 on the scale.
