Larry and his FUD.

SNDK CEO started company in 1988 with many patents.

1988+17=2005

Larry, digital photography at its current level of sophistication is in its infancy.
CompactFlash cards were sold beginning in 1996.

What is 1996 plus 17?

Is that still not good enough for you?

Try this...

5,602,000 is probably late 1997 (I know because I have a 5,713,... issued Feb 1997). Thus you are talking at least to 2014. However, I am sure that Harary is as smart as I am in these matters, and in the interim, he has applied for additional patents, extending the life of the technology. I would not worry that you would get a "Lilly" effect here anytime soon. By the time the patent expire, SNDK should replace IP with market position and strength (and additional IP) to assure its long term viability.

"Do you know when patent #5,602,987 started?"

The patent was approved in February, 1997. Eat your heart out, Lexar!
