Do you see how funny it is that you are trying to
convince everyone that SNDK is a utility type stock?

Larry, this is a non sequitur.

I thought we were talking about the life cycle of a patent?!?

I can't really argue with any of your claims regarding the longevity of a given patent since I am not a patent attorney. In any case, '987, SanDisk's disk drive emulation patent for flash memory cards, was awarded in 1997. Thus, it would seem likely that SanDisk will have protection through the bulk of the hypergrowth stage we are entering. As a novice investor I am comfortable making this kind of an assumption. I also suspect that since 1988 that SanDisk has further refined the operation of flash memory cards beyond the first PC cards (designed primarily for laptops) that were popular in the early and mid-1990's. By introducing new form factors (such as CF & MMC) and new processor/memory interfaces it is possible that some of the latest patent submissions incorporate both "recycled" older technology, refinements of the same and newer innovations. Thus, the patents themselves may be broad-based.

As to your assertion that SanDisk is volatile...

...that is simply restating the obvious.

SanDisk...like a utility company???
