Why should Florida be the example? Milwaukee, Cleveland and NYC have already completed voucher programs and they have been a success, unlike the multiple billions that the Gov't has poured into public schools. I'm tired of hearing excuses for the public schools. Some are great and others plain suck. I think if you look for the most part, the successful ones have a majority of kids from two parent families who are active in their children's education. Even though my child excelled in public schools, I finally got him enrolled in the Catholic school system, and it is like night and day. He has finally been challenged academically. When the standards have to be lowered to allow societal misfits to pass, the entire system suffers. The slowest child drives the class. Sorry, but I think vouchers are the way to go. The only problem with vouchers that I see is that most schools here are already overcrowded because the county commissioners are in the developers pocket. Growth in population has outgrown the capacity of the schools. That may be the cause of why the 93% of schools number you mentioned exists.knc
