OT--Quake
Was looking at the responses to the quake--
ncweb-east.wr.usgs.gov
Click the "did you feel it" link to see people's responses to the quake in real time (and a questionaire to fill out). Move the cursor to see # of responses by county.
Seemed like 40% of the responses were within the first hour. So many people up at that late hour...must be all of the people monitoring the multitudes of SUNW web servers, they have nothing better to do than respond to the questionaire. Interesting to note, the highest response in the first hour appeared to be from Davis, CA...EECS majors learning to run the SUNW servers?

I think seeing the quick response over the internet to the earthquake is a great indication of the importance of the "net" to disseminate time critical information. And I hope that SUNW continues to make strides making the "net" useful for all.
