"The U.S. is interfering with their plans to take over Taiwan. Hence they will probably not adopt U.S. technology."

Then why do they work with 3GPP2 to merge their LAS/TD standard with 1x EV-DV?

Malcolm: The Chinese government appears to be about as monolithic as most these days, which is to say, not exactly all marching to the beat of the same drum.

Not unusual, no?

So while one faction may feel as you suggest, others may not. We shall see. But there is still the possibility that the Koreans, the Taiwanese and other Asian companies, investors, and even governments may have some influence (and even some Canadian companies such as Nortel <g>), so the choice is not just one of "US technology" vs "European" or even homegrown Chinese. I would suggest that this is somewhat complex and hard to predict. (Sure has been so far)

Best.
