Eric L: Hey if the fog will lift a bit in 30 days, why not wait to see more clearly?

Best as always.

"But contracts are being let now, and the future is near, and we have some important decision being made within 30 days in Korea, that most certainly affect Qualcomm shareholders for the intermediate term, and actually (because of financial analysts reactions to these decisions, for the short term)."
----------

I certainly see how the decision will effect shareholders in the short term, regarding popular perception.

But as I grasp an inexorable transition to "standards soup" - majority thanks to the Operators - with proposed soup flavors and variations fundamentally based on QCOM IP, I fail to understand how the Korean decision materially effects QCOM in the intermediate or long term. I fail to see how it makes the slightest difference.

QCOM's technologies remain at the core - and QCOM's opportunity to dominate innovation and generational change remains unscathed. QCOM has the opportunity to be agnostic regarding flavor, or, more accurately, mix of flavors. The challenge is to advance and evolve QCOM's foundation technologies that support all proposed flavors and variants.

Please elaborate on you perceived intermediate term effects.

thanks, Ben
