More evidence?
Qualcomms Israel subsidiary is looking for VxWorks engineers. Among their projects is the following (see qualcomm.co.il )

HDR (High Data Rate)

A 1.25Mhz cellular/PCS CDMA System that provides wide-area high speed packet data connectivity for both fixed and mobile terminals. This system lets the user to browse Internet pages at speed up to 2.46 Mbps ! Under this program, which runs in San-Diego and Haifa, a new air interface design from the ground up for data applications was built and tested with real on-the-air trials. The Israeli team developed the Turbo-Decoder used in both the mobile and base station.
In the next phase of the project the Israeli team will develop a unique test equipment for the Mobile station, and for the Mobile station modem ASIC. In this scope a new modem card for CPCI platform, and SW for testing all protocol stacks will be developed.
Engineers that are taking part in this project are software engineers (real time programming and networking) and hardware engineers (digital design and RF design) and system engineers (physical layer).

QCOM, WIND, SSTI

re: Qualcomm recently announced “Sample Shipments of MSM3300 Solution Integrate Advanced Wireless Internet Launchpad Technologies Including Position Location, Bluetooth, MP3, MIDI and Mass Storage Device Controller” biz.yahoo.com

John, I hope you are correct with your conjecture that QCOM will prove to be one of the WIND VARS in upcoming announcements. We should find out pretty soon.

I also noticed from your post that the QCOM MSM3300 solution has blue tooth capabilities and a mass storage device controller. Sounds like this fits the bill for SSTI embedded flash---another one of my favorite investments. QCOM has already announced their intention to use SST flash in their Mobile Station Modem (MSM) solutions:
