Ed, As a former @Home subscriber, now a Road Runner subscriber, I have say that I liked the service very much. No outages worth complaining about. Customer service was excellent. I can't compare cable modem to DSL because I never had DSL to compare it to. No comparison to the ol' modem of course. Toss it or give it away. Once you're on cable modem, there's no way that you're going to go back to 28.8 if you're lucky.

In my opinion, cable modem speed and reliability is just going to get better, and better in a very short time. Why you ask ? Easy. Telephone service most major cable companies are offering, also known as "Cable Telephony", goes through the same bandwidth/channel as does your cable modem. No doubt, that reliable telephone service is of the highest priority to the cable companies.

I recommend you check with your neighbors and ask them. Who better to ask for an opinion and recommendation.

@home isn't bad...The few problems I've had were solved with the "right" tech support... Always ask for a supervisor if you're not happy with the tech you have.
