BigBull, why would this refinery fire lead to HIGHER prices for crude? Shouldn't there be more crude available if less refining capacity is available to use existing crude supplies? I thought that rise in price of Brent crude today was related more to the news about Sadaam's poor health.

Last post of the night - France: "Panic Buying" of petrol.

news.bbc.co.uk

Blockades by farmers and truck drivers protesting against the price of diesel fuel are paralysing fuel distribution in France.
Transport Minister Jean-Claude Gayssot said new talks were scheduled for late on Monday evening, after an earlier meeting with trade unionists ended in stalemate.

On Monday afternoon, nearly 2,000 vehicles had reportedly joined the protest, sealing off almost all the country's fuel depots and refineries.

Protest organisers, the Federation of Road Hauliers (FNTR) said it did not expect a petrol shortage for a week, but fear of impending fuel shortages triggered panic buying in some areas, with lines of motorists queuing at petrol stations to fill up their cars.
