I appreciate you making the effort to understand the technical discussion on the thread.

When I say <<I'm a chip guy, so any comments I made about board issues would be pure speculation>> that means I don't understand the alleged signal integrity problems associated with DDR DIMMS.

Carl has implied that the future of DDR probably lies in soldered down parts which do not suffer from these problems, and are also cheaper.

I see very little acceptance of DRDRAM in the engineering community, and I am inclined to believe that it will be a niche product only, with SDRAM and DDR being the dominant technologies.
