This Year's Anti-NEA Poster Artist

At the center of this year's controversy is performance artist Ron
Athey of Los Angeles. In March Athey performed in Minneapolis, sponsored
by the Walker Art Center. The performance, "Four Scenes in a Harsh Life,"
deals with scarification and rituals. In his performance, Athey, who is
gay and HIV positive, carves a design into his assistant's back, who is
HIV negative. Athey then uses paper towels to absorb the blood which makes
a print on the towels. The towels are then strung on a clothesline that
extends from the stage toward the audience.

The point is the government shouldn't be financing any art.
If art can't stand on it's own it doesn't deserve to stand IMO
