Toni,

CRUS's 3CI chip is used for magnetic disk drives only. This can be of the desktop variety (3 1/2") or the mobile variety (2 1/2") for notebook computers. BTW, 3CI stands for "3 chip integration" aka SOC or "system on chip". The 3 chips integrated on CRUS's 3CI chip are ARM CPU (Microcontroller), Controller (HDC core) and Read Channel. In addition to this, SRAM, ROM, and Servo logic are also integrated. Please see the link below:

BTW, CRUS has produced this part for two years. No other semiconductor company has been able to integrate these functions on a single chip. Why you may ask? Well, only CRUS has the technology to integrate both analog and digital functions of this complexity on a single chip and make it cheap!
