lrrp,

The chipset is off on the horizon of Bill Bolds excellent roadmap (slide 11) published on 4-28-00. At the time of publishing it was showing as available between Q2 & Q3 of 2001.

Bolds PowerPoint presentation is here:

cdg.org

This is a 2.5 MB file so it's a lenghthy download.

There is an HTML version but hard to get at the detail of this slide in it.

No standards for 3xMC yet, so no hard specifications for the chip. It's a ways away.

Enough has happenned since April, in Qualcomm's planning (focus on approach to HDR in particular) that it will be nice when this presentation is updated.

Re: Qualcomm ASIC Roadmap (MSM 5200 chipset)

You asked recently about the status of this chipset.

I responded by referencing Qualcomm's latest published roadmap (4-28-00).

I think the roadmap is in the garage for repairs.

Qualcomm has recently cleaned up their website as it relates to digital IC's. A few items have bit the dust (perhaps temporarily). This includes some products that have been replaced with newer ones (backward compatible to old), and some that are way far out or whose functionality will need to change due to redirection or prioritization of standards efforts. The MSM5200 falls in the latter category. So far as I can determine there is no active development for 3xRTT. This does not mean that the MSM5200 will be removed from a revised roadmap, but we may see some reshuffling of nomenclature and shifted dates.

Current standardization efforts are prioritizing 1.) 1xEV-D0, IS-2000 Revision B, 1xEV-DV, in that order.

The current chipset lineup for Qualcomm (Some products released and shipping, some not) is:

Core Products

MSM3300 NEW!
MSM3100
MSM3000
MSM5105 NEW!

New Applications

MSP1000 NEW!
iMSM4000
iMSM4100
MSM5000

High Data Rate (HDR)

iMSM4500
iMSM5500

Cell Site Modems

CSM5000
CSM2000

Product Overviews, Specification Data, and Press Releases can be linked from:

qualcomm.com

I am looking forward to a revised roadmap from Qualcomm. I suspect we will see one around October.
