levy,

<< Does anyone know what carrier if any in the USA with what phone is wap ready? >>

Verizon has been for some time. Several WAP models.

Here in the east (pretty universal I think):

Tri-modes (800Mhz CDMA/AMPS;1900Mhz CDMA) include: Motorola StarTAC 7868W and the Audiovox CDM 9000

Dual-modes include: Motorola Vulcan V8160 - Qualcomm QCP 860

Dual Mode (800Mhz CDMA/AMPS)

Don't let the term "CDMA mini browser" throw you. They're WAP

Sprint PCS has models from Qualcomm, Motorola, Neopoint, Samsung, & Sanyo (probably others).

Both Verizon have Sprint PCS use UP MiniBrowser, from Phone.com and both carriers use the UP WAP server.

Sorry, no Nokia.

All of the CDMA phones in the US have been equipped with a microbrowser from the inception of the CDMA market. I can't speak for ATT which probably thinks that WAP is a digital phone technology. However, every phone that QCOM ever made from the inception of CDMA was equipped with Phone.com's microbroser based on WAP. This user interface was installed in the earliest phone models to make sure that every phone was Internet ready, even before the wirless service providers like Airtouch had the infrastructure in place to provide wireless internet access.
