microdrive Rocky, we all know that microdrive more than doubles the cost of an entry level digital camera. Even a mid-tier digital camera is siginificantly impacted. For example, I saw Wolf Camera selling the Canon S10, a 2.1 megapixel camera, for $399.99 this weekend. The microdrive sells for about $280.00 for the 340 MB variety. commerce.www.ibm.com The trend over the next several years will be for smaller solutions, not bulkier ones that curtail battery life. The microdrive will get phased out as digital cameras shrink in size and power comsumption becomes more and more critical. As an aside, if SanDisk is successful in enforcing the '987 patent then look for flash-based CF I solutions to continue to dominate new design-ins (like Olympus recently announced). If '987 is incompletely defended then look for SanDisk to lure OEM's toward MMC. SanDisk has significant leverage in this regard. Ausdauer
