NOK & ERICY. It's beginning to look like those two could loose everything due to their unwillingness to deal with QCOM and get started in 3G. The whole world is after them now. Alcatel & Fujitsu storm Europe with Japanese technology. China resents that they captured all the GSM business in China for years. Japan's NTT is scheming to do what is best for NTT. These two are a target of pent up envy and jealousy from almost every nation.

Am I missing something or is everybody after them? Yet they continue to avoid some reasonable deal with QCOM--especially NOK--is this denial of reality or what?

Keith,

<< expanding your comments about the convergence proposal? >>

CWTS is leading an initiative within 3GPP2 about converging HDR, 1XTREME, (one or the other or both) and LAS-CDMA/TD-SCDMA. At the same time there are ongoing discussions going on in 3GPP between CWTS, ETSI (EP UTRA Project), and other SDO's to harmonize LAS-CDMA/TD-SCDMA and UTRA TD, (and perhaps this is the Siemens led initiative we are hearing about).

Appears that the 3GPP2 convergence proposal is active and well along. Probably a decision by October. If convergence is accomplished this will work itself into the overall 'Revision B' IS-2000 (cdma2000) standard for 1xWhatever.

Appears that CWTS is covering all bases gives reason for optimism that one of these days we will finally have cdma in China.

That is about all the detail I have.
