Looking at a couple old mobos I had laying around, about the only thing that comes with the mobo that isn't soldered is the bios EEPROM. Most things seem to be surface mounted these days. And of course, memory chips are all surface mounted and soldered on the DIMM module. I've heard that Packard Bell used to actually solder cards into slots, but I don't want to think about that one.

Apologies for butting into the usual high-level technical discussion here, I don't have to worry about the other party being bothered by this message anyway.

Cheers, Dan.

Wherever you post, people tend to disagree with you. If it you or is it the world that has got everything wrong.

Once again you have failed to respond with any plausible evidence/arguments/examples of why this will be so.

*sniff*

Throughout your posts you have demonstrated to me a very limited understanding of the x86 architecture and that you do not comprehend the design decisions that went into the P4. Your continuous attempts to bring the 21264 cache design into the discussion only further proves that you are very short-sighted in terms of high-performance computer architecture. Your repetitious 'mantra chanting' (good analogy Paul) is not enough to make your arguments any more plausible or substantial. Additionally, your blatantly obvious attempts to change the topic have not managed to make the logical arguments that have been put forward against yours to disappear nor have they contributed anything worthwhile to the thread.

Discussions with you started out promissing, however, you failed to bring on any more conclusive evidence to support your be-all and end-all statements.
