From the article:

<<When the short interest is above 50 percent, however, investors are indicating a high level of uncertainty about a company's prospects. A case in point is Globalstar Telecommunications (GSTRF), a satellite phone company with short interest totaling 58.6 percent of its shares. The company has been struggling with a large debt burden and has fallen short of expectations for signing up new customers.>>

58.6% of shares shorted. Is this the float or total shares? I assume float, and as such, are we still No. 3 with a bullet?

Nice game of Russian Roulette. The bullet is in a chamber and the gun is pointed at someone's head. Let's see who pulls the trigger.

On the risk/reward side, can there be that much advantage to shorting at these levels? (Must be given the volume, but how often do the 'shorts' turn over? I would agree that a short on Jan 1 was a good play, but now?

If nothing else, this entire affair is a lessen in investor psychology.
