Sorry for being obtuse -- I was a little wrapped up in my own ideas yesterday. And yes, I think you're right that sending a high current to a reference cell would reset it and then by measuring its resistance you would know pretty closely what temperature you are dealing with.

This is more obvious to me today, because Ray pointed out that I have probably been doing my analysis on the wrong side of the curve -- the downsloping left side rather than the up-sloping right side. I think that things may start to make a little more sense if I redo my thinking with respect to the programming being done on the right side.
