Re : getting options trading started for a stock that has no options trading currently ...

There are (I believe) minimum standards for stock to be eligible to have listed options traded on it.

Once a stock has achieved these criteria (things like average daily trading volume, shares available to be publicly traded ("float"), maybe total market value of company (?)) ... it is possible that the CBOE uses the same rule for starting options trading as they do for starting trading of LEAPs (long dated, listed options). Which is ...

Only a securities firm can request initiation of LEAP trading (not individuals), so ... you have to pester the firm(s) where you do your stock trading, get through to an options department person, and request that THEY ask the CBOE (and hope that they really ask ...)

If someone wants to start this process tomorrow, please let us know what the deal is.

(I am not doing this one).

Jon.
