Regarding Korean Subsidies - I agree with your assessment. In reviewing my notes of Dr. J's radio interview in late July - He mentioned that the Korean subsidy does not apply to 3G - that 1X technology is 3G and is part of the ITU 3G standard - And he also mentioned that every Korean cdma operator will go to 1xMC.

Although there still could be a subsidy ban (on 2G) it is moot if every carrier is going 1x (per Dr J.).

The subsidy may have a silver lining for QCOM as it may have created a pent up demand for new 1X devices and service.
