The Supreme Court mix is a key area with me.Separation of church and state is at the heart of the matter when it comes to the Religious Right. What if the "Religious Right" convinces the country they are correct and sweep to power. (Unlikley I know but this is a thought experiment, stay with me ). They appoint a Supreme Court that decides that since nowhere in the Constitution is the concept of a wall between Church and State mentioned, and that for years after the Constitution was ratified, numerous states had official religions, it's ok for Texans to adopt the Southern Baptist Convention as the official state religion of Texas. That is the danger of Roe-Wade. If the Constitution means anything 9 people say it means, then it means nothing. No honest person can read the Constitution and believe that somewhere in there an unstated guarantee of privacy prevents the state from keeping a woman from killing her unborn child, and yet there is no privacy for me if I decide to gift my son more than $10,000. Abortion is a POLITICAL issue and should be battled out in the legislatures of each state. Messy I know, but no one said self-government was easy.
