Hi Stan, and welcome. The issue you've raised concerning acronyms comes up here every three or four months. It's inevitable. MikeM's diligence, notwithstanding ;-) Actually, Mike does a great job in explaining what the acronyms mean in his posts, but we are not all that thoughtful at all times.

Here's a site that I've used, and contributed to, at times:

techweb.com

Other posters may jump in here and offer their own favorites, as well. Good luck.

ps - Hint: Sometimes it pays to be persistent, or look more deeply, when using the tool that I've cited, above. For example, if you go there and search "optical cross connect", you will find that the tool does not contain the term, as written.

However, if you look in the field of 'like' terms that it displays for your perusal, you'll notice that the term actually does exist in its hyphenated form: "optical cross-connect".

"BTW, I got a big kick out of something I saw at the local Barnes&Noble last week. Unbelievable as it may sound, there sitting on the center aisle table, was a large stack of Newton's. Imagine that. Would any of us telecom nerds ever have predicted, a few years back, Newton's to be a featured book at B&N!<vbg>"

Stan- Try Newton's Telecom Dictionary. I posted the above a few months back and here's the link to Amazon. amazon.com HTH. -MikeM(From Florida)
