I am rather young, 33, and did my Ph.D. in Immunology last year (June 99), which actually was a theoretical theme on the complete topic of immunology. So i know of every aspect - but don´t have the whole insight in a specific theme, like i don´t know how far they are exactly with immunotherapy against cancer. I did my Mag. (european title) in genetics in Okt. 93, where i worked in the lab and investigated if the gene VAS1 - the gene for the enzyme Valyl-tRNA-synthetase, that puts a valin on its corresponding tRNA (just to explain it simple) - is an early expressed gene in cancer cells, and therefor a cancer reporter. Actually it was not - unfortunately. In the time between 93 -and 99 i founded a software company together with a coworker from the lab to make biological software for education purposes. I am not in a lab right now. I am working on a business plan for a new company, to do research in faster solutions for visualisation of protein conformation, which IMO is also a important part of future drug research. I hope to finish the business plan early next year (before summer), so that things can be up and running by the end of next year. So, now that you know me a bit, i hope you see, that you should not call me an expert, rather someone who has a bit understnding in the basics of the work of dnap. But i will try to answer all your questions as far as it is possible to me. i. dnap will IMO stay ahead of the competition, because they are ahead for some years right now. It makes no sense for the big players to start the same development from point zero. They will rather try to get in cooperation with dnap (and i dont know any other company doing this stuff right know) to get their knowledge. ii. Their algorhythms are for sure very unique and ithink they are patented. I heard a rumour of a nomination for the nobel prize (in medicine?), but could not get it confirmed, nor by www.nobel.se neither by asking dnap via email along with a question about their partnering program (they actually didn´t mention that in their resonse email at all). iii. the Human Genom is sequenced nearly completly, and unterstood nearly not at all. So it is the work of generations to distinguish the coding from the non-coding regions (most of our dna is rubbish, the code is so called degenerated, this is thought to be a protection against mutations), the structural genes and their corresponding proteins, the regulation genes, .... and so on. iv. for dnap: they will be big or they will be gone. no way for staying a small company. They will be a major player or they will be swallowed. Thats my opinion. This is the only pinksheet i have, i dont like risky things. Hope i could answer some of your questions a bit. Sorry for the late reply, but i needed some tome to write it. Regards.
