Can anybody confirm the translation of the article found here? peopledaily.com.cn " This article says soon as end of this year, no late than next year, China will engage in large scale CDMA network, a dozen telecom equipment manufactures are so eager to join this great new market which is not controlled by GSM system makers. This action will both benefit to Qual Comm and all top Chinese telecom makers. Also Chinese mobile user will be up to 75million next year, and 200million in 2005. This CDMA, no matter IS-95AB or IS-2000, technically will beat all other system in the world. ..... JohnG, it may not be from a named source (I stopped listening to any non-named releases) but it sure does say all the right things: ...CDMA system is of paramount importance for China Unicom to compete against China Telecom in the domestic market... ...China Unicom's strategy to develop narrowband CDMA-95A, which is compatible to CDMA2001x of the third generation of telecommunications, will contribute to the smooth transition from the current narrowband network to the third generation mobile telecommunication system,...
