Techie, I agree with everything you said. P4 will be relatively low volumes this year. But, its future technology leadership that matters & Intel will establish P4
as their platform for the future. That's what matters. OEMs, especially commercial OEMs, will stick with Intel as a result.

Joey, quite an admission. I take it that you are an Intel long. And you haven't panicked yet! ;)

Do not ask yourself if this is what will cause you to bail. Ask yourself: 1 year ago, what criterion would would have set for yourself to bail a year later. That answer may shock you.

The first signs are always, we cannot handle today, but we have glorious things coming tomorrow.

Remember when it happened with AMD?
"Ou yields suck today, but wait till we get to 0.25microns".
"Our bin splits suck today, but wait till we get our late mask fix in."
"Our K5 sucks, but wait till we launch the K6"

AMD's turned around now. They didn't even respond to Intel's 1.13 immediately. Intel OTOH, has been launching chips they did not have for the last 9 months now, and you just conceded that they have no hope in hell to compete in their mainstream line for the next 6 months!
