no need for large player as amd is building up capacity at Austin (away from k6) and Dresden. Don't forget those negotiations with TSMC for more of the same. Between those they already have more than enough capacity to take over mid-high range by the end of the next year (TSMC would move in when capacity would be needed for k8). .13 is also at works with cooperation with some large players to share costs. Of course, Via might take care of the low end.

Let me see, Jerry's signature strategy is to dump at low margin to gain market share and he did not have an opportunity to use it in the recent years but now he seems to be gearing up for that. Amd's lower margins and competitive product vs intel's high margin requirement?

Of course, we all know that Itanium would arrive at the last moment at blazing 600MHz speed to save the day :-))

No wonder intel is saying that the future is not in mpus......
