That's not an unusual practice. --- In this case, while in retrospect a mistake because of the Computerworld bad PR spin, the intent of this NDA thing with this non-specific problem/fix, was keeping temp fixes/quick and dirty patches from being shared by the different vendors. Perhaps the larger issue fir Sun was maintaining every possible competitve advantage over it's competition (sic). As you come to know more about SUNW, you'll come to understand this 'competitve' thing is something they're *really good at. -JCJ
