Tim,

If Dirk left, it would be a disaster.

re: "How much of AMDs recent, present and future success does depend on Dirk Meyer? If Dirk left how many people here would sell?"

I really do not know. It was Ali Chen's response to my post that minimized or even praised the departure of Larry Hollatz for AMD's future that prompted my response. Ali, in support of LH said "Whos next, Dirk Myers?" I was not predicting a Myers departure (and I hope fervently that it will not occur) I was just pointing out that though many in a company are crucial to its success, the departure of any one of them almost never results in its doom. H. Ruiz, I suspect, is far more important to AMD's future than is Myers. I also suspect that AMD has incentive packages, in place, that minimize the likelihood of the departure of either one of them (along with packages, in place, for a whole host of other very valuable employee assets whom we never hear of.)

Now that Fisher has most effectively f****d up Kodak, I hope that they do not get the idea that Ruiz can help them. Remember it was the mess that Fisher left at Motorola that Ruiz is credited cleaning up.

In response to your query: "If Dirk left how many people here would sell?" I really do not know, but given the past history of the timing of this thread for optimism and pessimism, if a great many sold and indicated "gloom and doom" it probably would be a very propitious time to buy.

Patient Regards,

DARBES
