EIA sees lower U.S. oil inventories, higher demand
WASHINGTON, Sept 6 (Reuters) - The Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday it expects U.S. crude oil stocks at the end of the current and fourth quarters to be lower than previously forecast, while demand for refined petroleum products like gasoline, jet fuel and distillate fuel over the period will be higher.

In its monthly short-term energy outlook, the Energy Department's statistical agency lowered its forecast for U.S. oil stocks at the end of the third quarter by 6 million barrels to 279 million barrels. Fourth-quarter closing stocks were cut by 9 million barrels to 277 million barrels.

The agency's estimate for U.S. demand for refined petroleum products was raised by 170,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the current quarter to 19.89 million bpd, while the new demand forecast in the fourth quarter was revised up by 40,000 bpd to 19.99 million bpd.
