Terry, I should have explained my comment. The fact that gold mining shares are not declining in the face of a strengthening dollar is significant. I believe that the greatest risk to the stock and bond markets is not a Gore victory, but a Democratic sweep of the House (it does not appear that Senate control is seriously contested).

This is a classic basing formation for commodities and commodities producer shares. Compare this formation with the bases put in by the oil drillers back in 1998:

I doubt that a Democratic victory of the House would be possible without a Gore electoral victory. I have heard some pollsters discuss the possibility of a Bush victory in the electoral college, but a Gore popular victory, but this type of speculation may be mere sensationalism.
