I have a similar strategy on fewer gains this year; try to hold my winners through January and don't hesitate to book losses as I can. A lot of stocks can be sold for 30 days and re-bought if they are turnaround candidates. Net effect is the same in a flat market and the IRS doesn't mind cutting your tax bill a bit. Since you are famous for ZITL, did you ever look at ZIXI? The same story is unfolding there, so similar it's uncanny.
