Michael: Whether Gore "actually means what he says" is less important than what he has "done" in the past. A quick example: Where do the candidates stand on pension protection? Gore, as a senator, co-sponsored the Employee Pension Protection Act of 1989, one of the early measures seeking to protect and strengthen employees' pensions. Bush, on the other hand, cut $400 million in state monies to the Texas teachers' pension fund after pledging he would do so during his campaign for governor. So who's the liar here?
